Last weekend, Karoline, our CEO, attended WPP Stream 2017.
Hosted by WPP CEO Martin Sorrel and Yossi Vardi, Stream 2017 the un-conference for unconventional thinkers, brought together a small number of creative, media and technology leaders from WPP agencies, along with clients and media for three days of debate on the shores of lovely Marathon, Greece.
Described as a un-conference, the weekend was an unconventional and unstructured meeting of 250 industry thinkers. Rather than the rigid fixed form of a typical conference, the unpredictability of the weekend allowed for new ideas to flow and creativity to flourish.
The theme and focus for participants this weekend was creativity, technology and culture. Rather than sitting back and listening to a multitude of presentations, the weekend’s honest, open-ended discussions lead to new insights on the topic via dialogue and debate. Imagine a forum of corporates, techies, and agencies posed with questions concerning the changing tech culture with the ability and to chime in with their thoughts and opinions. Each perspective helps makes sense of the challenges and opportunities facing corporations globally.
The spontaneity and open question form of the discussions made Stream unlike any other conference the Smartzer team has attended, and it wasn’t just because most of the presentations were held on the beach. Karoline was able to get the most helpful takeaways from the discussion on Industry Insights into the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) ruling. This debate and dialogue with others in the industry gave her more perspective into the ground-breaking ruling and what it means for Smartzer moving forward.
This exceptional three-day event was a great opportunity to connect and reconnect with other leaders from tech, creative, media and agencies. Being able to contribute to each discussion lead to new perspectives on creativity, technology and culture and the way it fits into our company and the industry as a whole.
Thank you to WPP for an amazing three days!
